Post Consultation

Just came back from consultation. Let me pen down the feedback from Jing first before I forget and not improve. Hehe.

Assignment 1: Make the bookshelf bigger, give more emphasis for my name. I'm thinking of making a more elaborate shelf though, not sure. Will try it out later.

Assignment 2: This one drew mixed responses from Alfred and Jing. Alfred liked the noose one, didn't understand the one with the avalanche of books. Jing also suggested I go with the one with the noose, and offered very helpful advice with my abstraction process woo-hoo XD

Assignment 3: Need to include photo of the workstation with flour, oven, and everything else.

Assignment 4: Need to get logo from IDA (just emailed), work on the picture of IDA's masterplan. Basically just improve on the quality as the one I printer earlier was pixelated and blur and basically the worst case scenario come true le sigh.

Assignment 5: Postcard, Jing said this is much better. So I think, I might not edit this anymore, maybe I'll change the names on the colour scheme to some cutesy names xD

Assignment 6: My 3D is still not very 3D and Jing offered me some tips on how to make them more 3D. Will definitely take those into account and improve on the infographics piece.

I hope to finish all this soon. I think the iN2015 poster might take some time because the PSD file wasn't saved le sigh. Which kinda means I have to re-do from scratch :S

Assignment 6

I chose to do acne because it affects young and old alike and also because I suffer quite a bit from it. It is also a commonly misunderstood topic, i.e. the relationship between diet and acne: eating deep fried food and chocolates have not been proven as causes of acne but if you do notice any causality between your diet and breakouts then you ought to remove the offending item.

This edit, I've removed all the non-essential parts of the skin and kept only the items that affect the formation of acne. I've also edited the dirt particles to look like little monsters because they really are *curses*.

Basically the aim was to make an easy to understand process of acne, hence the infographic assignment :P

Assignment 4 Revised

I have just finished re-doing this poster and horror of horrors, my PSD file did NOT save. I cannot imagine how I am going to edit this post consultation tomorrow.

This time around I decided on doing a laptop which projects holograms into the air. The picture is actually a trace out from the picture of iN2015 from IDA's website. I've distorted the Singapore map (oops) to fit onto the outermost screen because, iN2015 = IDA = Singapore so yeah, I wanted to put Singapore on the map.

The blue background with rays of light is supposed to represent lightning fast connectivity zapping through the sky, and also, wireless connection.

The main reason why I changed the poster was because if I had reversed the perspective on my previous, I run the risk of looking like what my classmate has done, and that's not very nice. So yeah :P

Assignment 5 Revised

Assignment 2 Revised

I've revised assignment 2 the pictogram based on feedback from class.

Update. I am distracted. Yasmin Ahmad, one of my favourite film makers of all times, passed away today. Though I cannot digest this piece of news, RIP :(

iN2015

This was my poster for iN2015. It was quite difficult bringing myself to do this from my previous experience of discussing iN2015 in Culture Industries class. I'm game for all the high speed interconnectivity but the issues of privacy and personal space.. well, that bothers me quite a bit.

So I got myself to do this Sunday night and it wasn't perfect but among the improvements I will put in for this are:
  1. Changing the model, I liked the concept, that's why I took this image from the Web so I will use myself as the model for this picture. But I suppose I will maintain the effect of using Illustrator to trace as it because it has the whole futuristic look (though in reality I doubt we will look any more different in 2015 than our present hehe).
  2. Change the background colour to light sky blue. I think that will look more chio :) Or maybe stick to grey, but a lighter value.
  3. Edit the text. Need to come up with a tagline. Ah, 3217, how fond my memories are of you.
  4. Decrease the size of the logos at the bottom. Reverse the arrangement of FASS and CNM. Perhaps include logos of other sponsors.
  5. Change the buttons displayed on the touch screen. I was thinking of a menu with music, food, entertainment, info, health, etc... But I foresee a problem, how do I reverse it such that it faces the girl while still comprehensible to viewers of the poster? Pictogram, perhaps?
  6. Include IDA's contact details in place of the logos of other sponsors perhaps.

Class Exercise C

L-R: Order --> Disorder

Shu Ting and I collaborated on this class exercise and basically our idea was to juxtapose bipolar elements. We chose from the list of words Order and Disorder.

The Order half has straight vertical lines with gradual change in thickness while the Disorder half is well, in a disorder with different lines, thickness of the lines, and colours used.

All in all, it was pretty fun to do :)

Photo Essay v1

For the photo essay, I decided to do a story with a twist at the end. I started off with misleading the viewers that the subject in the photo was doing drugs (picture 2) and was somewhat a nerve wreck.

The twist was that she was actually looking for baking powder (or any essential white powdered baking ingredient) because she was making a cake. And the cake flopped so she headed out to buy Sara Lee.

The feedback that I got was that I should substitute the Sara Lee picture with a picture of a baking WIP to link back to the white powder. And also perhaps include a failed baked cake. Will be re-shooting some of the photos, in better light too I hope, soon!

Pictogram v1

For Assignment 2's pictogram, I decided to do a community message of sorts by telling fellow NUS students not to kill themselves when they mug for exams.

The feedback that I got was that my abstraction process was not as consistent, seeing that I changed ideas/approach midway. Also, that I could consider an avalanche of books instead of a noose. Or if I continue with the noose idea, I could leave an opened book on the desk.

These were great ideas. Will definitely try them out for the revised version. 'til then, stay tuned! :)

Me, Myself and I v1

Assignment 1 required us to draw a representation of ourselves while incorporating our names into the design. Here's take 1: my name in a book shelf with the books' spines spelling out my name.

Take 2 was more common, spelling out my name with musical notes..

Take 3 has the spots on a cow spelling out Eunice but they weren't too clear when I displayed them..

And here is take 4, a crossword puzzle to represent my love for words but it's not acceptable so I didn't proceed with the idea.

I finally settled on the bookshelf idea and at first I included a girl lying down by the side reading but Jing said that would take the spotlight away from the bookshelf.

This is just version 1, will continue working on it and post up the revised piece.

Inspiration: Happy Coloured Yum Yums

My recent inspirations come from my new found fervor for baking. And I came across this blog, Bakerella, that just, well, makes me happy. Look at her cake pops please. It's impossible not to feel your moods lifted with all the happy coloured yum yums.

Just look at that. Doesn't it make you happy? My attempts at that didn't turn out quite as picturesque but they were well, tasty, guilty, and gave us all happy tum tums.

Nom nom nom.

Class Exercise A

Hello. My name is Eunice. And I'm an art retard. Lol. And since my mission to get a camera from my friend failed (and caused his desktop fan to drop on him. ouch), here it is, taken by my phone's camera.

Ok. This was class exercise A and we were asked to draw a machine that would enhance our creativity by a 100 times. This was mine and if someone could invent something like this I would be eternally grateful and hope to pass NM2208.

Basically, in my perfectly creativity challenged and slightly technophobic world, this device only requires me to scan my thumb to ultimately read the neurons passing through my brain and generate the contents from within.

The scan will then relay the information to the environmental friendly super computer which will proceed to decipher my thought process and generate, get this, a variety of enhanced and desired output.

So if today I want my assignment to have a old photo mood to it, then the super computer will do just that.

Of course, after choosing the final output, the printer will print the finished work, and may I just add, this printer will not run out of ink so that I will never be bothered with the mundane and messy job of refilling ink! Am I not brilliant! Lol.

Lastly, all these wonderful life saving machines will be solar powered <3 id="gwProxy" type="hidden">
